A data-driven infographic series that sheds light on the critical issues affecting women in New York City. Through 7 key topics, this project uses accessible design to tell stories about the challenges women face in modern urban life. This project is a testament to the power of design in advocacy. By turning data into a visual narrative, I hope to foster empathy, awareness, and conversations that drive meaningful change.
This series of infographics explores the challenges and triumphs of women in America, with a particular focus on New York City. The project is heavily research-driven, with approximately 70–80% of the time dedicated to gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data. One of the biggest challenges was the scarcity of specific, easily accessible information online. Much of the data was fragmented or hidden between the lines, requiring extensive cross-referencing, statistical calculations, and interpretation to uncover meaningful insights.
Over the course of a month, I examined countless credible sources, including government reports, academic studies, and nonprofit research, to piece together a comprehensive and accurate narrative. Where direct statistics were lacking, Once the research phase was complete, I transitioned to the design process in InDesign, carefully structuring the information into a compelling visual format. The design approach balanced clarity and impact, using typography, layout, and data visualization to make complex information easily digestible while maintaining a strong narrative flow.
